National Academies to Assess Needs for Ocean Acoustics Expertise to Meet Demands of Growing Field

We’re delighted to share the release of a policy brief from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine on the launch of a committee that will assess the “current and future demand for ocean acoustics expertise and the potential needs for additional training opportunities to meet this demand.” With ocean acoustics a growing and critical field, this National Academies brief (“Ocean Acoustics Education and Expertise”) examines the “state of ocean acoustics education; assesses the anticipated demand for acoustics expertise over the next decade; identifies competencies required across higher education and professional training programs to fulfill that demand; and presents strategies to raise the profile of careers in ocean acoustics […]
