The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) have announced two public review opportunities:

• ASA/BSR S12.54-20XX / ISO 3744:2025 for Identical National Adoption
• ASA/BSR S3.21-20XX for Revision

These announcements can be found in ANSI Standards Action, and include a Call for Members notice inviting directly and materially affected parties to participate in the ANSI-accredited consensus body responsible for these standards.

Public review comments are due by August 31, 2026.

ASA/BSR S12.54-20XX / ISO 3744:2025	Acoustics—Determination of sound power levels and sound energy levels of noise sources using sound pressure: Engineering methods for an essentially free field over a reflecting plane (proposed identical adoption of an international standard)	This document specifies methods for determining the sound power level of a noise source from sound pressure levels measured on a surface enveloping the noise source (machinery or equipment) in an environment that approximates to an acoustic free field near one or more reflecting planes. The sound power level produced by the noise source, in frequency bands or with A-weighting applied, is calculated using those measurements.	$255.00
