Annotation 1          Spontaneous otoacoustic emissions are sounds produced by the cochlea and measured in the ear canal in the absence of externally presented sounds.

Annotation 2          Evoked otoacoustic emissions are sounds produced by the cochlea and measured in the ear canal following presentation of acoustic stimuli to the ear.
