Working Group on Underwater Noise Measurements of Ships
Chair: ASA Standards
Scope: Development a standard for the measurement of normalized underwater noise levels of ships (i.e. source levels) using commercial technology that can be implemented at any ocean site (i.e. does not require special acoustic underwater range). The scope will not include development of any underwater noise limits.
Responsible for the following published standards:
- ASA/ANSI S12.64, Part 1 – Quantities and Procedures for Description and Measurement of Underwater Sound from Ships – Part 1: General Requirements
- ASA/ANSI S12.64, Part 2 – Quantities and Procedures for Description and Measurement of Underwater Sound from Ships – Part 2: Shallow Water
- ASA/ANSI S12.74 – Airborne Sound Measurements and Acceptance Criteria in Shipboard Spaces
