vestibule

3.72  vestibule. Perilymph-filled oval-shaped central cavity of the osseous labyrinth. The vestibule contains the oval window, which is located in its wall facing the middle ear cavity (tympanic wall), as well as the utricle and the saccule.

drum membrane

3.71  tympanic membrane; eardrum; drum membrane. Conical shaped translucent membrane that separates the external acoustic meatus from the middle ear cavity. The handle of the malleus is attached to the tympanic membrane medially. Annotation            The amplitude of displacement of the tympanic membrane for a 1000 Hz tone at the threshold of audibility is about 10 nm. For low-frequency tones at the threshold of feeling the amplitude of displacement is about 0.1 mm.

traveling wave

3.70  traveling wave. Base-to-apex displacement pattern of the basilar membrane in response to acoustic stimulation.
