Elsevier’s Compendex Now Includes ASA Standards Content
Elsevier began indexing industry technical standards in Compendex (Elsevier’s flagship engineering-focused database) in 2018, starting with IEEE Standards and, subsequently, has expanded coverage and indexing of technical standards in Compendex to include 11 more Standards Development Organizations (SDOs). Building on this growth, Elsevier recently announced it has added the Acoustical Society of America‘s (ASA) ASA Standards as the 13th SDO to be included in Compendex’s standards coverage. ASA Standards are focused on generating, disseminating and promoting the knowledge and practical applications in the fields of Acoustics, Mechanical Vibration and Shock, Bioacoustics, Animal Bioacoustics, and Noise through the development of national standards, plus the participation in and adoption of international standards. Nancy A. Blair-DeLeon, ASA Standards Manager, Publishes Column in Acoustics Today
Nancy A. Blair-DeLeon, ASA Standards Manager, recently published a column in the Acoustical Society of America‘s Acoustics Today Winter 2022 issue on “New Efforts to Bring Acoustics Standards into the Curriculum.” In her column, Nancy writes: “The challenge is that standards are referred to but have not necessarily been a part of educational learning systems for several reasons including: lack of access and limited budgets or because the faculty may not necessarily be savvy when it comes to international and national standards application; that is, they are educators whose roles are different from those in the field who are applying such standards. With more exposure to and training in the […]
