4.20  central hearing loss; central deafness; central auditory processing disorder. Hearing impairment that occurs when there is damage to or dysfunction of the central auditory pathways.

Annotation         Damage may occur due to tumors, arteriosclerosis, cerebral hemorrhage, chronic otitis media, thrombosis, embolisms, syphilis, brain abscess, ototoxicity (see 4.52), radiation, birth injuries, skull fractures, or wounds, scars and adhesions. Disorder may be of unknown cause.
