5.10  differential threshold; difference limen; just-noticeable difference; JND. Minimum change in a stimulus that can be correctly judged as different from a reference stimulus in a specified fraction of trials.

Annotation         Instead of the method of constant stimuli, which is implied by the phrase “specified fraction of the trials,” another psychophysical method, which should be specified, may be employed.
