3.09  sound pressure level. Ten times the base-ten logarithm of the ratio of a time-mean-square sound-pressure signal, in a stated frequency band, for a stated averaging time duration, to the square of the reference value for sound pressure level. Abbreviation, SPL; general symbol Lp.
