Working Group on Rotary Chair for Vestibular Function Testing

Chair: ASA Standards

Scope: Develop and maintain a standard to provide technical specifications for rotary chair testing of the vestibuloocular reflex and visual-vestibular interactions. This will include minimum acceptable tolerances, as well as the capability to perform a minimum set of evaluations. While the basic tests required of a rotary chair will be limited to vertical-axis rotary chair testing, when available in a rotary chair device, this standard will include acceptable tolerances and basic evaluations, for smooth-pursuit and optokinetic tests. The Working Group will also evaluate off-vertical axis rotations, subjective visual vertical and subjective visual horizontal testing for possible inclusion in the standard.
