Annotation 1 Various self-explanatory modifiers such as peak and time-mean-square are often used. The time interval should be indicated over which the mean (for example) was taken.
Annotation 2 Acceleration may be (a) oscillatory, in which case it may be defined by acceleration amplitude (if simple harmonic) or the time-mean-square acceleration (if random), or (b) non-oscillatory, in which case it is designated “sustained” or “transient acceleration.”
