We’re very excited to announce Brandon W. Cudequest, Senior Consultant with Threshold Acoustics (an ASA Standards Member organization), has agreed to serve as the new Chair of ASA Standards Working Group (WG) 18 with our ASC S12 Committee (Noise).
Under Brandon’s leadership, WG18’s continued scope is to develop a method for rating the noise encountered in various types of rooms in terms of its effect upon people by means of: a weighting network and a computational procedure to account for temporal pattern of the noise and the need for tone correction as appropriate.
WG18 also is responsible for this published ASA standard: ASA/ANSI S12.2-2019 – Criteria for Evaluating Room Noise
Threshold Acoustics, based in Chicago, IL, provides acoustics and AV design consulting for performance, education, worship, cultural and public assembly spaces. The company’s collective experience spans two decades and scores of prominent music, theater, educational, and religious buildings – as well as a remarkable diversity of others – whose owners have sought intentional, well-crafted soundscapes in their buildings.
We also would like to express our sincere gratitude to Nicholas Sylvestre-Williams, Principal at Aercoustics Engineering Limited (based in Mississauga, Ontario) for his distinguished volunteer service as the previous ASC S12 WG18 Chair. Thank you Nicholas – and welcome Brandon!
