3.58 spiral ganglion of the cochlea. Cell bodies of the neurons of the cochlear nerve, located within the modiolus. The dendritic processes of these bipolar neurons make synaptic contact with the hair cells. The axons terminate in the cochlear nucleus in the lateral brainstem.
