5.36  signal transmission level. Signal level (of a kind to be specified) at a designated point in the transmission system. Unit, decibel (dB).

Annotation 1          Signal level at some specified position near the source may be taken as the reference level.

Annotation 2          In an acoustical system, the signal level is often a sound pressure level; either the reference sound pressure or in this case the reference sound pressure level has to be specified.
