pseudo-random noise

2.39 pseudo-random noise. A noise with random properties but synthesized in accordance with defined mathematical parameters and therefore predictable and not random.  Abbreviation: PRN.

Annotation 1          A noise spectrum can be independent of frequency over a desired bandwidth.

Annotation 2          PRN repeats itself periodically, depending on the switching speed and the number of states within a cycle.

Annotation 3          PRN is widely used in applications where large bandwidth is desired and where it can be detected in truly random background noise by using cross-correlation with the noise-free waveform.
